The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday announced the expulsion of three serving governors, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.
Also expelled were former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara; former National Vice Chairman, Chief Bode George; and the newly elected National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.
The faction further dissolved the State Executive Committees of Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara, Yobe, Lagos, and Ekiti States, while affirming the Edo State Exco led by Nosa Ogieva.
These decisions were contained in a communiqué read by the factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, after its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the PDP National Secretariat, Abuja.
“NEC approved the expulsion of the following: Adolphus Wabara, Olabode George, Ben Obi, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, Bala Mohammed, Oluseyi Makinde, Dauda Lawal, Taofiq Arapaja, Setonji Koshoedo, Okechukwu Obiechina Daniel, Woyengikuro Daniel, Mohammed Kadade Suleiman, Emmanuel Ogidi, Sumaila Adamu Burga, Umar Sani, Udom Emmanuel, and Emmanuel Enorden,” the communiqué stated.
According to the faction, the expelled members were sanctioned for “anti-party activities, disobedience to court judgments, and actions capable of causing disaffection within the party.”
Acting National Chairman of the faction, Mohammed Abdulrahman, who presented the memo recommending the expulsions, said the affected leaders consistently disregarded court orders, thereby damaging the party’s credibility.
The development comes just days after the rival PDP faction, at its national convention in Ibadan, suspended Wike and ten others for alleged anti-party activities and attempts to destabilise the party ahead of a planned nationwide restructuring.
Earlier on Tuesday, both factions stormed the PDP National Secretariat for parallel NEC and Board of Trustees meetings. The encounter triggered chaos, as supporters from both camps clashed at the entrance, prompting security operatives to intervene and temporarily shut down parts of the complex before each group proceeded with separate meetings.
