The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has received 180 Nigerians who voluntarily returned home from Libya under a joint humanitarian operation coordinated with key partners.
The returnees arrived aboard an Air Libya flight (registration number 5A-BAE) at the Cargo Terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
The repatriation exercise was conducted in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and Port Health Services.
Upon arrival, the returnees were received and profiled by NEMA officials. A breakdown shows 147 adults (45 males and 102 females), 19 children (6 males and 13 females), and 14 infants (7 males and 7 females). Forty-six returnees with medical conditions were promptly attended to by health personnel.
Officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) also conducted biometric registration and documentation to ensure accurate identification and facilitate their reintegration into society.
In line with the Federal Government’s policy on safe and dignified return, the returnees were provided with food, water, medical care, ambulance services, counselling, and logistics support.
NEMA said the operation underscores the government’s continued commitment to protecting the welfare and dignity of Nigerians stranded abroad, especially those returning from crisis-affected regions.
