Croatian coach Ivan Juric has been dismissed as Atalanta’s manager following consecutive Serie A defeats that have left the club in the bottom half of the table, the club announced on Monday.
Atalanta fell to a 3-0 home loss against Sassuolo on Sunday, dropping them to 13th in the standings. The Bergamo side had begun the season with a nine-match unbeaten run in the league, though seven of those were draws, before suffering defeats to Udinese and Sassuolo.
In a statement, Atalanta confirmed that Juric and his coaching staff had all been relieved of their duties.
Juric’s recent managerial record has been turbulent. He endured a brief, under-two-month spell at Roma last year before moving to English side Southampton, where he stepped down after the Saints became the earliest team ever relegated from the Premier League in April.
He had taken over Atalanta from the highly successful Gian Piero Gasperini, who departed for Roma after nine years in charge.
While Atalanta have struggled in Serie A this season, their European form has been comparatively better, with the club sitting 16th in the Champions League group standings after four games, having collected seven points.
