INEC to conduct mock accreditation ahead of Anambra election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will hold a mock accreditation exercise in Anambra State on Saturday, October 25, to test the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) ahead of the November governorship election.

Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, said the exercise will take place at selected polling units across the state’s three senatorial districts, including Awka South, Idemili North, Oyi, Anambra East, Aguata, and Orumba North local government areas.

The exercise aims to assess the BVAS’s response time and the efficiency of result uploads on the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal. Eta-Messi urged voters in the selected areas to participate actively, emphasizing their role in helping fine-tune INEC’s systems before the election.

Additionally, INEC announced that distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for newly registered voters in Anambra will begin on Wednesday, October 22, and run through Sunday, October 26. Voters are to collect their PVCs at their original registration centers, as proxy collection is strictly prohibited.

“All registered voters are encouraged to collect their PVCs within the specified timeframe to ensure eligibility for the upcoming election,” the commission stated.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and stakeholder confidence as preparations for the 2025 Anambra governorship election continue.
