Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has issued a stern warning to politicians planning to manipulate the 2027 governorship election, urging them to abandon such ambitions. He emphasized that the outcome of the election would be determined by the will of God and the people, not by political scheming.
Governor Otti made these remarks on Thursday during the October edition of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians, held at the Government House in Umuahia. His comments were captured in a video shared on Channels Television’s YouTube page.
While maintaining that he has no objection to anyone contesting the election, Otti cautioned that those plotting to rig the process would face dire consequences.
“I’ve heard some people around him saying, ‘Oh, they must take over this state; they must write results.’ My advice to them is simple: if they’re really keen on writing something before then, they should consider writing their will,” Otti said pointedly.
According to Daily Post, Otti’s statement was in response to a question about recent comments attributed to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who reportedly declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would take control of Abia State in 2027.
Governor Otti’s remarks come amid early political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 election cycle. His 2023 victory under the Labour Party banner ended over two decades of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) dominance in the state.
