Osun 2026: Omisore declares intention to run for governor

Iyiola Omisore
Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Iyiola Omisore, has announced his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Omisore made the announcement on Saturday via his official X handle (formerly Twitter), stating that his formal declaration will take place on October 7, 2025, at the APC secretariat in Osogbo.

Themed “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams,” the event will mark the official launch of what Omisore calls the “Osun Rescue Mission 2026.”

“Together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun,” he said. “This is not just my mission, it is a collective one.”

Omisore, a long-time political figure in the state, previously ran for governor in 2014 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before joining the APC. Despite multiple attempts, he has yet to secure the governorship seat.

As the 2026 election approaches, he is expected to be one of the leading contenders for the APC ticket.
