Luis Díaz scored twice, including one of the fastest goals in Bundesliga history, and Harry Kane added another as Bayern Munich cruised to a 3-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, sending the champions four points clear at the top heading into the international break.
Bayern wasted no time at Deutsche Bank Park, opening the scoring just 15 seconds in. Serge Gnabry intercepted a wayward Frankfurt pass and fed Díaz, who slotted home for the third-fastest goal in Bundesliga history.
Frankfurt thought they had equalised on 15 minutes when Jean-Matteo Bahoya’s long-range effort beat Sven Ulreich, but VAR ruled it out for a handball by Ritsu Doan in the buildup.
Kane doubled Bayern’s lead in the 27th minute with a powerful low drive from outside the box — his 18th goal in just 10 appearances this season across all competitions.
The England captain later collided with Frankfurt goalkeeper Kaua Santos and left the field with a limp. However, he downplayed concerns post-match:
“I’m okay. It was a knock to the bone, I’ve had it before. A few days and it’ll be fine,” Kane said, confirming he would be fit for England duty.
Díaz capped off the win six minutes from time, sweeping home his second and sixth goal of the season since joining from Liverpool.
Dortmund, Leipzig share spoils
Earlier in the day, RB Leipzig held Borussia Dortmund to a 1-1 draw at Signal Iduna Park in a tense clash between title hopefuls.
Christoph Baumgartner opened the scoring for Leipzig in the 7th minute, converting after Assan Ouedraogo rose highest to head the ball into his path.
Dortmund equalised midway through the first half when Serhou Guirassy teed up Yan Couto, who fired low into the bottom corner.
Leipzig’s Romulo briefly thought he had restored the lead, but his goal was ruled out for offside. Dortmund came close late on, with Julian Brandt missing a golden chance, heading over the bar with two minutes remaining.
“We wanted the win and had our chances,” said Dortmund captain Nico Schlotterbeck. “We were just missing a bit of luck and composure in the final third.”
The result extends Dortmund’s unbeaten domestic run to 15 games (12 wins), though they drop one point behind Bayern. Leipzig remain third, one point further back.
Bayer Leverkusen defeated Union Berlin 2–0 at home, with summer signings Ernest Poku and Christian Kofane both on target. Poku opened the scoring from a pinpoint Lucas Vázquez cross before Kofane capitalised on a poor clearance by goalkeeper Frederik Rønnow to seal the win. The victory was marred by a serious injury to captain Álex Grimaldo, who was stretchered off following a head clash.
Werder Bremen edged St. Pauli 1–0 thanks to Samuel Mbangula’s second-minute goal, securing the hosts’ second win of the season.
Augsburg snapped a four-match losing streak with a dominant 3–1 home win over Wolfsburg, easing pressure and climbing out of the bottom three.
