Air Peace has announced that some of its scheduled flights across Nigeria may experience delays due to heavy rainfall in Lagos and Port Harcourt.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the airline’s spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, said adverse weather conditions had disrupted flight operations but assured passengers that safety remains the airline’s top priority.
“Due to the heavy downpour in Lagos this morning, some flights across our network will be delayed,” Efe stated.
“While weather conditions are beyond our control, we are working to minimise the impact of these disruptions. We appeal for your understanding as we prioritise your safety and work to get you to your destinations as soon as possible.”
Passengers were advised to stay updated on flight schedules by contacting the airline’s customer service via email or phone.
Reiterating the airline’s safety commitment, the statement added: “Safety is not just a priority — it is a core value. We remain committed to upholding the highest safety standards for our passengers and crew.”
The disruptions come amid widespread rainfall across the country, following a weather alert issued by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) on Sunday.
NiMet forecasted thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across various regions from Monday to Wednesday, warning of potential flash floods in parts of Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe states.
For the northern region, isolated thunderstorms were expected Monday morning over Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba, with moderate rain predicted to continue through the day.
In the central region, NiMet predicted a mix of cloudy skies and sunshine in the morning, followed by moderate rainfall in Niger, Kogi, Kwara, FCT, and Benue.
Southern states such as Ekiti, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River were also forecasted to experience cloudy conditions and moderate rainfalls, particularly in the morning hours.
