IGP appoints Benjamin Hundeyin as new Force PRO

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of CSP Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by his predecessor, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who described Hundeyin as a seasoned communicator with solid academic and professional credentials.

According to the statement, Hundeyin holds a BA in English Language from Lagos State University and an MSc in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan. He also earned a certificate in Civil-Military Coordination from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre in Jaji, Kaduna.

He is an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), a Member of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM).

Highlighting his experience, Adejobi noted that Hundeyin previously served as Police Public Relations Officer at Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos; was part of Nigeria’s contingent to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) in 2020; and worked as Administration Officer at the Force Public Relations Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja. Until this appointment, he was the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson.

Adejobi added that the IGP has tasked Hundeyin with strengthening public confidence in the Force and leveraging his communication and security expertise to enhance police-community relations.

Meanwhile, Adejobi himself has been redeployed as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations at the Delta State Police Command. The posting, approved on Wednesday, was described as a reflection of the Force’s confidence in his professionalism and ability to strengthen operational strategies in the state.

Adejobi, widely credited with boosting the police’s social media visibility and improving citizen engagement through proactive crisis communication, has earned commendations for modernising the Force’s public relations approach
