The Trump administration has officially withdrawn the Secret Service protection granted to former Vice President Kamala Harris, a White House official confirmed on Friday.

This decision marks the termination of an extension approved by then-President Joe Biden, which extended Harris’s security protection beyond the usual six-month period. Her protection, as per standard protocol, ended on July 21 after she completed her tenure as Vice President.

A senior aide to Harris expressed gratitude on her behalf, stating that Harris was “grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety.”

While Harris has kept a relatively low profile since the election loss, she is scheduled for a public tour this fall to promote a memoir about her brief presidential campaign. The book, titled 107 Days, offers an inside look at her run against Donald Trump and her experience in the Democratic primary.

The memoir, set for release on September 23 by Simon & Schuster, is expected to give readers an honest, behind-the-scenes account of her campaign, which ended after just over three months. Harris, the first woman to serve as Vice President, became the Democratic nominee after Biden withdrew from the race due to concerns about his cognitive health.

Harris has said the book was written with “candor and reflection,” promising an intimate perspective on the highs and lows of her short-lived presidential bid.

Since taking office in January, President Trump has taken a series of actions against political opponents and former officials, including stripping security clearances, targeting law firms involved in cases against him, and cutting federal funding to certain universities.

In a notable move last week, FBI agents raided the home and office of former National Security Advisor John Bolton, one of Trump’s vocal critics, in connection with an investigation involving classified documents.
