EFCC invites CBEX fraud victims to aid ongoing investigation

EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has called on victims of the alleged fraudulent cryptocurrency trading platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), to report to its Ibadan and Lagos Zonal Directorates to aid ongoing investigations.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to the EFCC, the platform lured unsuspecting Nigerians to invest in cryptocurrency with promises of unrealistically high returns, leading to significant financial losses for many investors.

Oyewale said, “The EFCC is currently prosecuting three suspects—Adefowora Olanipekun, Otorudo Avwerosuo, and Ehirim Chukwuebuka—over their alleged involvement in the scam.”

The commission urged individuals who invested through CBEX-linked agents or offices in Ibadan and Idimu, Lagos, to come forward and report at either the Ibadan Zonal Directorate or Lagos Zonal Directorate 2.

“The information provided by victims will support the commission’s ongoing efforts to bring those responsible to justice and recover lost funds,” the statement added.
