NSA confirms arrest of top Ansaru terrorist leaders

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has announced the arrest of two senior leaders of the Ansaru terrorist group, marking a major breakthrough in Nigeria’s ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

Speaking at a press briefing on national security developments, Ribadu identified the suspects as Abu Baraa, the group’s Amir (leader), and Mahmuda, the deputy Amir. According to the NSA, the duo were key figures behind several terrorist operations and high-profile kidnappings across the country.

“These arrests are the result of sustained intelligence operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks threatening our national security,” Ribadu said.

Present at the briefing were key figures in the nation’s security architecture, including the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Inspector General of Police, and the Minister of Information and National Orientation.
