‎Tinubu made cancer treatment possible in Nigeria – Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, says President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda has transformed Nigeria’s healthcare sector, making cancer treatment now possible within the country.

Idris made this known on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah, as part of a nationwide media tour to showcase the impact of President Tinubu’s policies.

He said the entire federal information infrastructure had been mobilised to Enugu to highlight the positive strides of the Tinubu administration, as well as Governor Mbah’s efforts at the state level.

“President Tinubu has done so much within a short time that it feels like he’s already in his second term,” Idris said.

He commended the Enugu governor for building on the work of his predecessor and pushing development in what he described as the “heart of the South-East.”

Highlighting advancements in the healthcare sector, the minister said: “Through the Renewed Hope agenda, the federal government has revolutionised cancer care in Nigeria. We now have six world-class cancer treatment centres — one in each geopolitical zone, including Enugu — equipped with the same machines found in top facilities abroad. Skilled professionals have also been trained to operate them.”

“Today, if anyone chooses to travel abroad for cancer treatment, it is by choice, not necessity. Nigeria now has both the facilities and the expertise,” he added.

Idris also praised President Tinubu’s efforts to strengthen national security, noting improved coordination among security agencies.

“While we acknowledge that more work remains, there is no doubt that the security situation has significantly improved under this administration. The President remains committed to addressing the remaining challenges,” the minister said.

The visit forms part of a wider effort by the Federal Ministry of Information to document and publicise progress across Nigeria under the Tinubu administration.
