Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that preparations for his much-anticipated white wedding to wife Chioma Adeleke have already cost an eye-watering $3.7 million in cash.
“We’ve spent $3.7 million in cash. So, you should know what we are doing. It’s going to be crazy,” the 32-year-old singer said in a video shared on Instagram by fellow artiste Teni.
The couple touched down in Miami earlier this week, arriving in style aboard a private jet adorned with floral decorations and a seat labeled “MRS”—a romantic nod to the festivities ahead.
Footage from their pre-wedding party captured Davido dressed in a white hat, blue suit jacket, white trousers, and a draped Ankara fabric, while Chioma stunned in a short white gown. Guests were welcomed by a chic display reading “Chivido. Miami. 2025,” reminiscent of upscale cocktail bar signage.
The star-studded guest list included familiar faces from Nigeria’s entertainment scene such as Zlatan Ibile, Teniola Apata, Adekunle Gold, Tunde Ednut, and Poco Lee. Family members, including Davido’s cousin and fellow musician B-Red, were also seen at the event.
Tunde Ednut, a close friend of the couple, confirmed that the wedding, initially slated for August, will now be held this weekend in Miami.
This marks the third wedding ceremony for the Adeleskes. The pair had a court wedding in March 2023, followed by a traditional ceremony in Lagos in June 2024, which attracted prominent politicians, celebrities, and dignitaries.
Among the high-profile guests expected in Miami is Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke—Davido’s uncle—whose spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, has reportedly confirmed his attendance.
Davido and Chioma’s love story began over a decade ago while she was a student at Babcock University. Their relationship went public in 2018, when Davido released the hit single Assurance in her honor. He followed it up with 1 Milli, a romantic ballad expressing his readiness to pay any price to make her his wife.
The couple’s journey has not been without hardship. In 2021, they weathered a public breakup amid cheating rumors. In October 2022, tragedy struck when their first son, Ifeanyi, tragically drowned at their Lagos residence. A year later, in October 2023, they welcomed twins in the United States.
Davido has often credited his early relationship with Chioma—formed before his rise to stardom—as a grounding force in his life. In a 2024 interview on The Bridge podcast, he said their bond pre-fame played a crucial role in his decision to settle down. “If I hadn’t met her before the fame, I might never have married,” he admitted.
With the Miami celebration set to be a grand affair, the wedding marks yet another milestone in what has become one of Nigeria’s most followed celebrity love stories.
