EU accuses Temu of violating digital rules

The European Union on Monday accused Chinese-founded e-commerce giant Temu of breaching the bloc’s digital regulations by failing to adequately assess and mitigate the risks posed by illegal products on its platform.

“There is evidence indicating a high risk for consumers in the EU to encounter illegal products while using the platform,” the European Commission said in a preliminary finding.

The accusation is part of the EU’s ongoing efforts to enforce its landmark Digital Services Act (DSA), which requires large online platforms to take stronger measures to protect consumers from harmful or illegal content and products.
