Sanwo-Olu swears in elected LG chairmen, vice chairmen

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday swore in the newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen of the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs) of Lagos State.

The officials emerged from the local government elections held on July 12, 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony held at Lagos House, Ikeja, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Bolaji Robert, congratulated the new leaders, describing their victories as a reflection of strong grassroots support and public trust.

He commended the governor for fostering democratic values at the local level, noting that his administration ensured a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process.

Robert also acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s legacy in laying the foundation for democratic governance in Lagos and Nigeria, describing him as the “father of modern democracy” in the country.

He formally presented the 57 elected chairmen and their deputies for the constitutional swearing-in ceremony.
