Factional Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, met with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Sunday amid escalating tensions within the party, particularly involving supporters of former presidential candidate Peter Obi.

The closed-door meeting, held at Wike’s private residence in Abuja, comes in the wake of a renewed internal crisis rocking the LP.

While the details of their discussion remain undisclosed, the meeting follows shortly after the Abure-led faction called on Obi to step aside, criticizing his alignment with a coalition involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The development underscores growing divisions within the party as it prepares for future political engagements.
