LG Poll: APC wins chairmanship seats in Ikorodu, Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA

Chairmanship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have emerged victorious in the Lagos State local government elections held in Ikorodu Local Government Area and Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the results were announced around 12:35 a.m. on Sunday by the respective returning officers.

In Ikorodu LGA, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) returning officer, Alhaji Aregbesola Yekinni, declared Adedayo Ladega of the APC the duly elected chairman, having secured 38,946 votes.

His closest challengers were Saidat Odofin of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 2,592 votes; Abdulazeez Awesu of the Labour Party, who garnered 2,753 votes; and the Allied Peoples Movement candidate, who received 68 votes.

Similarly, in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, LASIEC returning officer Arimoro Oluwakanyinsola announced Hammed Aroyewun of the APC as the winner with 15,015 votes. He defeated Liadi Olawale of the PDP, who received 341 votes.

Reacting to the outcome, outgoing Chairman of Ikorodu LGA, Mr. Wasiu Adesina, described the results as a resounding victory for the APC. He expressed gratitude to the electorate for their overwhelming support and pledged continued delivery of democratic dividends at the grassroots level.
