Air Peace aircraft skids off Port Harcourt airport runaway

Air Peace has confirmed that one of its aircraft operating Flight P47190 from Lagos to Port Harcourt experienced a runway excursion upon landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday morning.

In a statement signed by the airline’s spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, the airline said the aircraft “veered slightly off the runway after landing safely” and emphasized that there was no damage to the aircraft.

“All passengers disembarked safely and calmly. No injuries were reported,” the statement said.

Air Peace reassured the public of its commitment to safety, stating, “We remain fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety in all our operations.”

This incident comes two months after another Air Peace aircraft was grounded at the Asaba International Airport in Delta State on May 11, following a runway collision with a large antelope. The impact left the animal decimated and caused flight disruptions.

Commenting on the Asaba incident, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, noted that while such wildlife-related events are often beyond an airline’s control, operators remain responsible for the safety and well-being of their passengers.
