Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, cast his vote on Saturday in the ongoing local government elections across the state.
Obasa voted at Polling Unit 019, Ward E, located on Oluwole Olaniyan Street in the Orile Agege area of Lagos. He arrived in the morning, briefly interacted with electoral officials and constituents, and proceeded to cast his ballot.
Speaking to journalists afterward, the Speaker praised the peaceful and orderly conduct of the election.
“So far, the process has been peaceful and without any form of rancour or disruption. It’s encouraging to see people coming out to exercise their democratic rights,” Obasa said.
He commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for ensuring a smooth and transparent process, describing peaceful elections as essential to democracy and good governance.
Obasa also urged eligible voters yet to participate to turn out and fulfil their civic duty.
“Voting is not just a right but a responsibility. I encourage everyone to take part in this important process,” he added.
Expressing confidence that the outcome would reflect the will of the people, he stressed the importance of maintaining transparency and credibility throughout the election.
As voting continues across Lagos, stakeholders remain hopeful that the peaceful atmosphere will persist until the exercise concludes.
