The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The decision was announced on Tuesday during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
According to JAMB, the agreed minimum cut-off marks for other tertiary institutions are 140 for colleges of nursing, and 100 each for polytechnics, colleges of education, and colleges of agriculture.
“The minimum admissible scores for the next academic session have been fixed at 150 for universities, 140 for colleges of nursing sciences, and 100 each for polytechnics, colleges of education, and colleges of agriculture,” the Board stated via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
This update follows months after JAMB acknowledged experiencing technical glitches during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), prompting a rescheduled exam for affected candidates nationwide.
In a related development, the Federal Government has announced that the minimum age for admission into any tertiary institution in Nigeria is now 16 years.
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made the announcement at the same policy meeting, stating that the age restriction will be enforced through JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). However, exceptions will be made for candidates who turn 16 on or before August 31, 2025.
