Australian actor Julian McMahon, best known for his roles in Nip/Tuck, Charmed, and Fantastic Four, has died at the age of 56.
McMahon passed away on Wednesday in Clearwater, Florida, following a private battle with cancer. His death was confirmed on Friday in a statement released by his wife, Kelly.
“With an open heart, I share with the world that Julian McMahon, my beloved husband, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,” the statement read.
“His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.
“We hope those to whom Julian brought joy will continue to find joy in life.
“We are grateful for the memories.”
Born into one of Australia’s most prominent political families, McMahon was the son of former Prime Minister Sir William McMahon. In a fitting tribute to that legacy, he portrayed an Australian prime minister in the Netflix series The Residence.
McMahon rose to international fame as the charismatic plastic surgeon Dr. Christian Troy in the hit series Nip/Tuck. He also won a devoted fan base for his role as the demon-turned-hero Cole Turner in Charmed, and portrayed iconic Marvel villain Victor Von Doom in the Fantastic Four films.
Over a career spanning more than three decades, McMahon became known for his brooding charm, versatility, and screen presence across television and film.
He was married three times, including to Australian singer and actress Dannii Minogue, sister of pop star Kylie Minogue.
McMahon is remembered not just for his body of work, but for his enduring commitment to bringing light into people’s lives.
