PDP leaders, INEC officials in closed-door meeting

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is holding a closed-door meeting with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

INEC recently rejected the PDP’s notification for its 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, citing non-compliance with existing rules and guidelines. The commission also pointed to the ongoing internal crisis involving the party’s national secretary as a key factor in its decision.

During Tuesday’s meeting, INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu highlighted the complications arising from the secretaryship dispute, which have contributed to the commission’s concerns.

Present at the talks were PDP acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and the governors of Bauchi, Zamfara, Plateau, and Oyo states.
