FG launches youth confab portal to empower young Nigerians

The Federal Government has officially launched the digital portal for the upcoming Nigeria Youth Conference, also known as the National Youth Confab, designed to actively engage young Nigerians in policy dialogue and national development.

Minister of Youth Development, Ayode Olawande, announced the launch on Monday, describing the initiative as “more than just a conference — it is a generational turning point, a national movement, and a call to action.”

President Bola Tinubu first unveiled plans for the 30-day Youth Confab during his Independence Day address on October 1, 2024. The event is scheduled to take place in February 2025. However, it wasn’t until March 10 that the President officially inaugurated a 44-member Planning Committee for the conference at the State House, Abuja.

Unveiling the theme, “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future,” Olawande emphasized that the Confab will be “inclusive, non-partisan, and youth-led.”

The new digital portal will serve as a hub for delegates to register, contribute ideas, and receive real-time updates throughout the conference period.

Olawande explained that the Confab will involve broad-based participation — from Nigerian youths in the diaspora, consultations across all 360 federal constituencies, zonal engagements in six states, culminating in a National Conference in Abuja where recommendations will be harmonized.

More details on the conference will be shared in due course.
