Man falls from 26-storey Cocoa House in Oyo, probe begins

An unidentified man reportedly fell from one of the upper floors of Cocoa House in Ibadan, Oyo State, in the early hours of Monday, sparking panic across the local business community.

According to eyewitnesses, the man is believed to have jumped from the 23rd floor—the level housing the building’s museum. His current condition remains unclear, and the fall may have been fatal.

“The victim first struck a roof near the building’s security post before landing on the ground. It was a terrifying sight,” an eyewitness recounted.

Attempts to obtain official details from the police have been unsuccessful so far. However, Odu’a Investment Company, the firm responsible for managing Cocoa House, addressed the incident in an official statement.

Victor Ayetoro, Head of Branding and Communication at Odu’a Investment Company, said:

“The individual was promptly attended to by our emergency response team and transported to University College Hospital, Ibadan, for urgent medical care.”

He added that the company is deeply concerned about the incident and pledged full cooperation with authorities investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall.
