We have resurrected PDP, says Bode George

A PDP Board of Trustees member, Bode George, has declared that the opposition party has been “resurrected,” dismissing recent speculations about its decline.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today after the party’s crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting aimed at resolving internal crises, George said, “We have already done the resurrection today. An iroko tree doesn’t die; this party is an iroko tree because its tap root is so deep.”

He accused some politicians of selfishness, saying they have strayed from the founding fathers’ vision. “We’ve learned a lesson—this meeting reminded me of the peak of our existence as a political party. I left feeling reinvigorated,” he added.

George emphasized that the PDP belongs to no individual. “The NEC meeting was a reckoning of our failures and achievements. This party is not for one person to own.”

On leadership, he quoted PDP BoT Chairman Adolphus Wabara, urging members to prioritize selflessness over selfishness. “We must build on selfless leaders and reduce selfish ones.”

When asked about switching to the ruling APC, George firmly refused, criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s policies and condemning the country’s hardships. He also challenged the legitimacy of the 2023 presidential election, claiming the APC did not win fairly due to electoral flaws.
