PDP holds caucus, NEC meeting

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held its caucus meeting on Tuesday at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, following the adjournment of Monday’s session, which failed to conclude its agenda, including discussions related to the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

The NEC meeting, initially scheduled for noon, was later moved to 2 p.m. and will take place at the party’s secretariat annex, Legacy House.

According to the PDP, the NEC gathering will “address critical issues affecting the party, including strategies for upcoming political engagements.” As one of the party’s highest decision-making bodies, the NEC includes the National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), state governors, serving and former presidents and vice-presidents, BoT leadership, National Assembly principal officers, state chairpersons, and founding members.

Meanwhile, the PDP has condemned the sealing of its national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, by the Federal Capital Territory Development Authority (FCTDA) on Monday over unpaid ground and tenancy rent.

Speaking to the press after the caucus meeting, Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum described the action as “irresponsible” and vowed the party would challenge it.
