Barcelona winger Raphinha has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2028, following a standout season in which he played a pivotal role in the team’s domestic treble.

“Barcelona and Raphinha have reached an agreement for the renewal of his contract,” the club confirmed on Thursday.

The 28-year-old Brazilian has been in sensational form, scoring 34 goals and providing 25 assists in 56 appearances across all competitions. He is joint top scorer in the Champions League with 13 goals, despite Barcelona’s semi-final exit to Inter Milan.

Highlights of his season include a hat-trick against Bayern Munich in the group stage and a brace in the recent Clásico win over Real Madrid that effectively sealed the La Liga title for Barça.

Raphinha’s extension comes a day after head coach Hansi Flick renewed his deal until 2027. Rising star Lamine Yamal, 17, is also expected to sign a new contract soon, according to his agent Jorge Mendes.

Since arriving from Leeds United for £55 million in 2022, Raphinha has won two La Liga titles and helped transform Barça’s attack alongside Yamal and veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.

The Catalan side, currently on 99 league goals, aim to surpass the century mark in their final match of the season against Athletic Bilbao.
