Trump signs order to ‘make America’s showers great again’

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order lifting water-pressure restrictions on showerheads, a move aimed at addressing his concerns over low water pressure in American bathrooms.

Trump has long criticized federal water-conservation regulations, which limit shower flow to 2.5 gallons per minute, describing them as inadequate. “I like to take a nice shower, to take care of my beautiful hair,” he said while signing the order in the Oval Office on Wednesday. “I have to stand under the shower for 15 minutes until it gets wet. It’s ridiculous.”

The order directs the Energy Department to roll back “radical green” regulations, and the White House framed the move as a way to reduce bureaucratic restrictions that have turned everyday household appliances into “a nightmare.”

Trump has repeatedly targeted water-pressure standards for household items like showerheads, toilets, and dishwashers throughout his presidency, arguing that they hinder personal comfort.

However, critics, including the Appliance Standards Awareness Project, argue that these standards help consumers save on water and energy bills while benefiting the environment. The organization states that modern showerheads can still provide a quality experience without compromising conservation efforts.
