Ukraine launched a “massive” overnight drone assault on Moscow, with Russia’s defense ministry reporting the downing of 337 UAVs across the country, authorities said Tuesday.

Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that Moscow’s air defense system successfully repelled a significant drone attack, with 91 UAVs intercepted near the capital. An additional 126 drones were shot down over Russia’s Kursk region, which borders Ukraine.

The southern suburbs of Moscow were hit, resulting in one fatality and three injuries, according to regional governor Andrei Vorobyov. He also reported damage to at least seven units in a residential building caused by falling drone debris in another southeastern suburb.

The attack, which targeted Moscow hundreds of kilometers from the Ukrainian border, comes as US and Ukrainian officials prepare for high-level talks in Saudi Arabia. Ukraine plans to present a proposal for a partial ceasefire to secure continued support from the United States, which has recently ramped up pressure on Ukraine amid concerns about President Zelensky’s leadership.

This strike follows growing tensions with Washington after President Trump criticized Zelensky, leading to a suspension of military aid, intelligence sharing, and satellite access from the US.
