Christian Pulisic scored twice as AC Milan avoided a fourth consecutive Serie A defeat, battling back from a two-goal deficit to secure a 3-2 win over lowly Lecce on Saturday.
Without suspended French goalkeeper Mike Maignan, Milan found themselves trailing 2-0 for more than an hour after Nikola Krstovic’s brace for Lecce, with goals in the 7th and 59th minutes.
However, Milan’s fortunes changed when Antonino Gallo scored an own goal in the 68th minute, giving the visitors a lifeline. Pulisic then leveled the score with a penalty five minutes later.
The US international completed his brace in the 81st minute, scoring the decisive goal to hand Milan their first win since February 15.
The victory lifts last year’s Serie A runners-up into eighth place, though they remain 14 points behind leaders Inter Milan, who are set to face bottom-placed Monza later on Saturday.
Despite the win, the future of Milan manager Sergio Conceicao remains uncertain. Appointed in December to replace fellow Portuguese Paulo Fonseca, Conceicao is reportedly under pressure, with talks underway for former Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri to take over.
