On Saturday, the Lagos State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Summa Group, a prominent construction company, to develop the long-awaited Lekki-Epe International Airport.
In a statement posted on his X handle, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu highlighted the airport’s importance to his administration’s vision of enhancing connectivity, stimulating economic growth, and attracting global investment.
The statement read, “We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the internationally renowned Summa Group to develop and construct the much-anticipated Lekki-Epe International Airport. This groundbreaking initiative is a key part of our vision to improve connectivity in Lagos, drive economic growth, and attract global investments.”
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the new airport would facilitate travel, create new business opportunities, and benefit residents across the state, underscoring Lagos’ role as a leading economic powerhouse. “The Lekki-Epe International Airport will be a catalyst for progress and innovation,” he added. “Lagos leads, always.”
The project is expected to significantly improve infrastructure, ease transportation challenges, and solidify Lagos’ position as a critical economic hub in Africa.
