The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, announced on Thursday that the payment of ₦77,000 to corps members will commence in February 2025.
The NYSC DG made this revelation while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina State.
Ahmed confirmed that the increase, which has been approved by the Federal Government and incorporated into the 2025 budget, will take effect once the budget is passed.
“The Federal Government has already approved the increase in your allowance. It’s no longer news, as we have the approval in hand. What we’re waiting for now is the passage of the budget,” he stated. “Although January has ended, once the budget is passed, you will begin receiving ₦77,000 next month, replacing the usual ₦33,000.”
The DG also took the opportunity to advise corps members to avoid any form of misconduct or behavior that could hinder their future prospects.
He emphasized that diligence, honesty, perseverance, and faith in God are essential qualities for achieving success in life.
Ahmed further urged the corps members to respect the cultures and traditions of their host communities, encouraging them to integrate quickly once they leave the Orientation Camps.
In addition, the DG called on the corps members to make meaningful contributions to their host communities by initiating either personal or group Community Development Service (CDS) projects that would enhance the living standards of the people they serve.
