Valencia CF have completed their first signing under new manager Carlos Corberan, securing Super Eagles forward Umar Sadiq on loan.
The Spanish La Liga side had been working on the deal to bring Sadiq in ahead of Corberan’s return to the club, and the move was given the green light by the new boss, with Real Sociedad eager to offload a player no longer in their plans.
Sadiq’s career at Real Sociedad was derailed by a major injury in 2022, limiting his impact at the club. Last season, he scored just three goals. With Real Sociedad signaling their intent to let him go, Valencia pounced on the opportunity, bringing the 27-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season.
As part of the agreement, Valencia secured a purchase option of under €10 million for the summer, along with a €1 million loan fee.
Valencia have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring just 17 goals in 18 league matches, and Corberan will be hoping the arrival of Sadiq can help revitalize the team’s attacking form.
