President Bola Tinubu has appointed new chief executive officers for key organizations, including the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Friday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.

Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, a visiting professor at the NUC, has been appointed as the commission’s Executive Secretary. Ribadu, an expert in veterinary reproduction, has previously served as Vice Chancellor of both the Federal University of Technology, Yola, and Sule Lamido University in Jigawa State.

Salisu Shehu was named Executive Secretary of the NERDC. A distinguished academic in educational and human psychology, Shehu played a pivotal role in establishing the School of Continuing Education at Bayero University, Kano, and also served as Vice Chancellor of Al-Istiqamah University, Kano.

Jabiru Salisu Abdullahi Tsauri has been appointed National Coordinator of NEPAD. Tsauri, who holds a Master’s in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, is a seasoned administrator with extensive experience in legislative affairs, global affairs, democratic governance, and public service.

Additionally, President Tinubu approved the renewal of Fatima Umaru Shinkafi’s appointment as Executive Secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI). Shinkafi, originally appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari, is credited with driving significant reforms in the solid minerals sector.

The previously announced appointment of Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani as Executive Secretary of SMDF/PAGMI has been rescinded, as there is no vacancy in the agency.

Onanuga concluded by emphasizing that the president is confident the appointees’ vast experience and track records will foster renewed commitment, progress, and positive outcomes, aligning with the expectations of Nigerians.
