Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, issued a statement from Abeokuta, the state capital, confirming the incident.

According to Odutola, Ebukwe was shot dead while attempting to flee after gunmen stormed the hotel where he was staying. Despite breaking through the hotel ceiling in a bid to escape, the gunmen tracked him down, shot him, and stole his belongings.

At around 3:30 p.m., the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) in Igbosoro, Atobatele, reported the incident as a suspected assassination. He stated that a group of five armed men arrived at Ok Winners Hotel and attacked Ebukwe, whose address remains unknown.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led a team of detectives to the scene. No arrests have been made, and Ebukwe’s body was transported to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo.
