The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the arrest of a businessman caught attempting to smuggle a large quantity of cocaine by ingesting it.
Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy for the agency, shared the news on Sunday via his X account, posting a video that showed the seized contraband.
The businessman, whose identity has not been disclosed, reportedly swallowed a significant amount of cocaine in an attempt to evade detection. However, his plan was thwarted, and he later excreted the drugs.
Babafemi issued a stern warning on social media, saying, “Detty December: Before you swallow those drugs, remember that the new @ndlea_nigeria has the capacity and capability to catch you.”
He added, “The businessman who ingested this amount of cocaine will not only spend Christmas behind bars but also faces the possibility of a life sentence at the end of his trial. Beware!”
The NDLEA continues to urge the public to avoid involvement in drug trafficking and to stay vigilant during the holiday season.
