The Osun Government has approved ₦75,000 as the new minimum wage for civil servants in the state.
Governor Ademola Adeleke gave the approval on Friday and believes the move is in line with his government’s resolve to improve the living standards of state workers and residents.
“I am pleased to announce the approval of the sum of 75,000 Naira as the new minimum wage for Osun State civil servants. This is in tandem with our commitment to social justice, economic growth, and an enhanced living standard for Osun teaming workers and citizens alike,” the governor wrote on his X handle.
“I urge all civil servants in the state to up their service delivery by endlessly seeking innovative solutions to improve public service in ensuring transparency and accountability for the growth and development of the 33-year-old Osun State.”
The governor thanked the “negotiation committee ably led by my loyal and dedicated Chief of Staff, Hon. Kazeem Akinleye, and the leaders of the State Labour Union for their commitment and swift action in concluding this special assignment.
“My administration will continue to prioritize the welfare of civil servants, who tirelessly provide efficient, effective, and quality services to the state despite limited resources.”
Osun now joins the league of states that have approved a new minimum wage. The move came months after President Bola Tinubu approved ₦70,000 as the new minimum wage for workers. This followed several negotiations by labour unions, the private sector, and the government over a new minimum wage.
