Head of service launches portal for government circulars

Head of Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, has launched an online portal designed to enhance the accessibility of government circulars for civil servants.

At the launch event in Abuja on Wednesday, Walson-Jack highlighted the critical role of circulars in governance and administration within the civil service.

“Circulars are essential tools for providing direction, clarifying policies, and ensuring that decisions are communicated consistently across the Service,” she explained. “However, a persistent challenge has been the accessibility and retention of these important documents, especially as time passes and administrations change. This has, at times, undermined institutional memory and disrupted seamless service delivery.”

Walson-Jack emphasized that the new online compendium of circulars would significantly improve transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness within the civil service.

“This digital compendium will not only enhance access to circulars but also reduce administrative bottlenecks, supporting our broader goals of efficiency, accountability, and improved service delivery,” she said. “It is a step toward a more responsive and transparent civil service.”

She further underscored that the initiative represents a broader commitment to modernizing governance.

“This compendium is not just a technological upgrade; it is a bold statement of our determination to innovate, adapt, and lead,” Walson-Jack concluded. “It reflects our belief that a modern Civil Service is defined not just by what we do, but by how we do it. It reaffirms our commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in governance.”
