President Bola Tinubu will kick off his re-election campaign in Kaduna State on October 24, according to Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
Yari disclosed this on Friday while speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He said the President had approved the proposed campaign timetable, which would see the campaign move to Rivers State and Maiduguri, Borno State, after the Kaduna rally.
According to Yari, Tinubu will formally inaugurate the APC Presidential Campaign Council on October 14 at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He added that the full campaign schedule would be made public after the inauguration.
“I just presented a proposed campaign timetable for state visits to the President, and he has approved it,” Yari said.
“We agreed on how it is going to be done. The inaugural meeting of the PCC will be held on Oct. 14 at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“And, by God’s grace, on Oct. 24, we are going to have our flag-off in Kaduna State.
“We have the timetable, and we are going to make it available after the inauguration,” he added.
On the APC’s prospects in the 2027 presidential election, Yari predicted a landslide victory for Tinubu, citing the President’s popularity and the number of states controlled by the ruling party.
The former Zamfara State governor said the APC controlled more than 10 states in the South and expressed confidence that the party also held sway in more than 10 states in the North.
“This is a calculation; it is not rocket science,” he said.
Yari also defended Tinubu’s record in office, arguing that the administration had made progress in addressing the challenges it inherited upon assuming power in May 2023.
He said the government’s performance would be central to the APC’s campaign message ahead of the 2027 general election.
“The economy is improving. So, I think we have done enough to tell our opponents what we have achieved,” he said.
“We are not promising; we are doing it, and we are going to continue.”
The APC is expected to unveil its campaign timetable and outline its strategy for the 2027 presidential election following the inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council.
