The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will on Wednesday administer the oath of office to Justice Joseph Oyewole, officially inducting him as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 2:00 pm at Courtroom Two of the Supreme Court complex in Abuja.

The National Judicial Council recommended Oyewole for the Supreme Court, alongside 35 other judicial appointments, following its 110th meeting on January 13, 2026, presided over by Justice Kekere-Ekun.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Supreme Court’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr Festus Akande, described the appointment as a significant step toward enhancing the court’s capacity to deliver fair and timely judgments.

The Supreme Court described the swearing-in as “another significant step in rejuvenating the judiciary and reinforcing its capacity to deliver justice in line with the highest standards of competence, integrity, and impartiality.”

Invited guests were reminded to comply with all court protocols and security measures. The apex court reaffirmed its dedication to judicial independence, fairness, and the delivery of justice for all Nigerians.
