Edo Gov Okpebholo approves minor cabinet reshuffle

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved a minor reshuffle of the State Executive Council.

The changes were announced in a letter dated January 29 and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, which was made available to journalists on Friday.

According to the letter, the reshuffle is part of ongoing efforts by the administration to strengthen governance, improve service delivery and enhance efficiency in the management of state affairs.

As part of the changes, Vincent Osas Uwadiae, Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Lands and Housing as Commissioner.

Yakubu Oshiorenua, who previously served as Commissioner for Lands and Housing, has been appointed Chief of Staff to the Governor.

In addition, Gani Audu, the outgoing Chief of Staff, has been nominated to resume duties as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.

The reshuffle takes effect from January 30, 2026.

Governor Okpebholo expressed confidence that the strategic adjustments would enhance coordination, policy implementation and effective governance in the state.

Since assuming office, the Okpebholo administration has prioritised inclusive governance, security and infrastructure development, according to The Telegraph.
