Tech billionaire Elon Musk has deleted a provocative social media allegation linking former US President Donald Trump to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, amid a bitter public feud between the two this week.

Musk, who recently stepped down as a senior White House advisor, claimed on Thursday that Trump appears in unreleased government files related to Epstein’s associates. Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while facing sex trafficking charges.

The Trump administration has confirmed it is reviewing tens of thousands of documents and investigative materials that some in Trump’s “MAGA” movement believe could expose public figures connected to Epstein’s crimes.

Trump’s name appeared in unsealed deposition documents related to Epstein in early 2024, though he has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

“Time to drop the really big bomb: (Trump) is in the Epstein files,” Musk wrote on his social platform X, fueling speculation. “That is the real reason they have not been made public.”

Musk offered no evidence and did not specify which files he referred to. He initially stood by his claim, urging followers to “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.” However, both tweets were deleted by Saturday morning.

Within Trump’s base, some conspiracy theories claim Epstein’s associates’ crimes have been covered up by officials and celebrities, but no credible source has confirmed Trump’s involvement in any unreleased files.

Trump, who socialized with Epstein but denies visiting Epstein’s private island where alleged trafficking occurred, once described Epstein as a “terrific guy” who “likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

Just last week, Trump praised Musk as he left his role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), but their relationship quickly soured over a spending bill Musk condemned as an “abomination.” The ensuing public feud shocked Washington and social media alike.

Despite the tensions, both appeared to soften their stance by Friday, with Trump wishing Musk well and Musk reciprocating on X. The White House, however, denied any plans for a reconciliation meeting.
