The House of Representatives has issued an order for the complete shutdown of all pornographic websites across Nigeria.
The lawmakers directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to immediately enforce the closure of these websites within the country.
The directive was given during a plenary session on Tuesday, with the lawmakers stressing that internet service providers must block access to such sites in accordance with the new order.
The motion was sponsored by Rep. Dalhatu Tafoki from Katsina, who described the action as a necessary step to “protect societal values.”
