Colleagues, fans celebrates Nkem Owoh ‘Osuofia’ at 70

Veteran Nollywood actor Nkem Owoh, popularly known for his iconic role as Osuofia, is marking his 70th birthday today, and fans are flooding social media with heartfelt messages and celebrations.

Kicking off the celebrations, Owoh shared a post on his Instagram page, expressing his gratitude: “Chi Efogo, and it is my 70th birthday. What else can I say? To God be all the glory. Special thanks to you all for being part of this journey. I love you all.”

Celebrities and fellow actors also took to social media to celebrate the milestone. Actor Ken Erics wrote, “Happy Birthday Sir. Keep inspiring generations. God bless you.” Uche Elendu added, “Happy Birthday, my John Bull… 70 looks amazing on you, uncle.” Actor Fredric Leonard chimed in with, “Happy Birthday, Icon Living.” Chidi Mokeme also posted, “Happy Birthday Mpa. Many more celebrations in good health and long life.”

Fans of the legendary actor also celebrated him on X (formerly Twitter). Former Presidential spokesperson Segun Adeniyi shared a special memory, writing, “The one and only Nkem Owoh is 70! I recall my days at the Villa. Most of the videos we watched on trips in the Presidential Jet were his. One day, I asked the PAF Commander why. It turned out the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua requested them! Happy birthday, Sir!”

In addition to birthday wishes, many fans shared memorable clips from Owoh’s movies and his hit songs, celebrating his legacy in Nollywood. Nkem Owoh is widely regarded as one of the best comic actors in Nigeria, known for his hilarious roles and unique charm.

Owoh’s career has earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2008 for his performance in Stronger Than Pain. He was later honored with the Africa Movie Academy Award’s Lifetime Achievement Award at its 13th edition in 2017.

Born on February 7, 1955, in Udi, Enugu State, southeastern Nigeria, Nkem Owoh studied Engineering at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State. Today, he remains a beloved figure in Nollywood, admired for his talent and enduring contributions to the film industry.
