Gov Adeleke approves Haastrup appointment as Owa Obokun of Ijesha land

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially approved the appointments of Prince Adesuyi Haastrup as the new Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesha Land and Prince Johnson Adekanmi Abikoye as the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina.

This announcement was made through a press statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, following a meeting of the Osun State Executive Council, presided over by the governor on Friday.

The appointments come after the passing of the previous monarchs: Oba (Dr.) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, the former Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesha Land, who died on September 11, 2024, and Oba Tinuoye Atolagbe, the former Asaoni of Ora Igbomina, who passed away on November 19, 2023.

Governor Adeleke, in his congratulatory message, affirmed that both appointments were made following due process, in accordance with the Chiefs’ Law of Osun State 2002 (Cap 25). He called on the people of Ijesha Land and Ora Igbomina to support their new monarchs, emphasizing the importance of peace, unity, and cooperation in their communities.

Additionally, during the final State Executive Council meeting of 2024, Governor Adeleke expressed his gratitude to the members of his Executive Council for their outstanding performance throughout the year. He praised their efforts and urged them to continue their excellent work in 2025, challenging them to exceed their accomplishments and remain dedicated to their duties and responsibilities in the coming year.
